How the Newer WL Grand Cherokee Compares
The current WL generation arrived for 2022 and got a mid-cycle refresh for 2026. It is a genuinely different vehicle from the WK2 above. It shares a platform with the Wagoneer, the interior moved upmarket, and the safety suite is a generation ahead.
What it does not have yet is a long high-mileage record. The 2018 to 2021 trucks have been on the road long enough that their behavior at 120,000 miles is well documented. A 2022 or 2023 has not had time to build that same picture.
So the honest answer depends on what you are buying for. If you want the longest track record and the lowest entry price, shop the WK2 years. If you want remaining factory warranty, the current safety tech and the 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 screen, shop the WL and let the warranty carry the risk instead of the odometer. Both are defensible.
