2022 Jeep Compass Redesigned

Under the hood of the all-new Compass, you'll find a 2.3L Tigershark I4 engine that kicks out 177 horsepower, 172 lb-ft of torque and offers a fuel-sipping 31 MPG on the highway. The four-cylinder engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This transmission is replaced by a 9-speed automatic exclusive to the Trailhawk trim level. While Jeep's iconic four-wheel-drive capability is available to all trim levels, the Compass comes standard with a front-wheel drivetrain. In addition, the 4WD Compass variants come with Jeep Active Drive. This automatic four-wheel-drive system automatically shifts in and out of four-wheel drive without any driver input. When the traction control system detects a loss of traction, Active Drive will redistribute up to 100% of the engine's available torque to the wheels with the most traction to counteract the slip.

For the 2022 model year, the Jeep Compass features a grille with seven slots that makes it instantly recognizable. The front end, however, has been upgraded for a more modern, aggressive presence. The grille is encased in High Gloss Black accents that draw the eyes over to the narrow pointed LED headlights, giving a taunting glare. The mid-grille has the same High Gloss Black trim and is home to new standard LED fog lights. In addition, the lower grille has been made wider for greater engine cooling capabilities while simultaneously adding to the aggressive road presence. The Trailhawk features its own upgrades, with Matte Black replacing the Gloss Black grille trim. The anti-glare hood decal has been updated as well with a black and red color scheme. The Compass Trailhawk also received a new high-strength steel front skid plate, supporting the 30-degree approach angle. On higher Compass trim levels, you'll find exterior features like a hands-free power liftgate, body-color lower trim with grey accents, a panoramic sunroof, painted side flares, and much more.

Where the 2022 Compass is really taken to new heights is with the interior upgrades. The Compass may be compact, but it provides ample space and plush features for a premium feel. As soon as you enter any of the four doors, you'll instantly notice the refinement and attention to detail. The front cockpit has been reimagined with a refreshed instrument panel, a painted or chrome-plated accent strip, modern slim HVAC vents, and a wrapped mid-pad. Additionally, the dashboard has a streamlined horizontal theme with a Gloss Black center stack for a contrasting color scheme. The Compass also comes with a largest-in-class 8.4-inch touchscreen, while a 10.1-inch touchscreen. In addition, the Uconnect 5 infotainment software offers operating speeds up to five times faster than Uconnect 4 and five driver profiles, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth for two enabled devices, wireless Apple/Android smartphone integration, and more. The Compass's center console has also been rethought, with additional storage space and a sleeker design. The interior features premium cloth, leather-trimmed, or Nappa leather upholstery depending on trim level.

Jeep has upped the ante for safety, most notably with its 75 available safety and security features. One standard driver aid for the 2022 Jeep Compass is full-speed forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and advanced park assist. Other driver assists include LaneSense Active Lane Management, blindspot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, a backup camera, an electronic switch-activated parking brake, and a wheel-specific tire pressure monitoring system. In addition, some available driver aids include a semi-autonomous driving system, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and many more. In the event of a collision, occupants are kept safe by a frame made of 97% high-strength steel, driver and passenger front, side, and knee airbags. Both front and rear occupants are protected by side curtain airbags as well.
