The world-class capability of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L starts underneath the hood. The standard engine is a 3.6L V6 engine that cranks out an impressive 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Cherokee L V6 variants are rated to tow up to 6,200lbs when properly equipped. For more power, there is a 5.7L V8 engine that kicks out 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque with a maximum towing capacity of 7,200lbs. That is just the beginning of the Grand Cherokee L's fantastic capability. Three available 4x4 systems are available for the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Quadra-Trac I employs a single-speed transfer case and a grid of sensors. These sensors detect wheel slippage and the transfer case automatically redistributes up to 100% of available torque to the wheel with the most traction. Quadra-Trac II acts similarly with a two-speed transfer case to redistribute torque faster. Lastly, Quadra-Drive II employs a two-speed transfer case with an Active 4-Low drive mode. Quadra-Drive II also employs an electronic limited-slip rear differential. The 2021 Grand Cherokee L is also eligible for Quadra-lift Air Suspension. This four-corner air suspension system lowers the suspension at highway speeds to reduce drag to increase fuel economy and performance. Quadra-Lift can also raise to a towering 10.9 inches of ground clearance for rugged terrain.

A lot went in to making the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L as capable and comfortable as it is. But the designers of the Grand Cherokee L didn't sacrifice safety to do so. In fact, they made it safer! The body of the Grand Cherokee L sits on a high-strength steel frame designed to direct crash energy away from the cabin. Occupants are also protected by front, front side, driver's knee airbags, and three-row curtain airbags. The Grand Cherokee L will come with over 110 standard and available driver assists. Standard driver assists include adaptive cruise control, blindspot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, full-speed forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist. Other available driver assists include drowsy driver detection, hands free park assist, a head-up display, a night vision camera, and a surround-view camera.

Each of the Grand Cherokee L's four trim levels bring standard features that cast a shadow over the full-size SUV class. The Laredo trim starts off the lineup with dual-zone automatic climate control, a frameless fully customizable 10.25-inch digital driver information display, an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, Uconnect 5, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, Tip n' Slide second-row bucket seats for easy access to the third row, LED exterior lighting, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Limited trim adds heated front and second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, automatic high beams, a power liftgate, and LED fog lights. The Overland trim adds a dual-pane panoramic moonroof, a wood-trimmed steering wheel, perforated Nappa leather upholstery, ambient interior LED lighting, Alpine premium audio, front tow hooks, and a hands-free power liftgate. At the top of the trim level lineup is the Summit with four-zone automatic climate control, massaging front seats, quilted Nappa leather upholstery, 16-way power-adjustable front seats with memory settings, a Gloss Black roof, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
